Villa Olivo | Cozy 1 bedroom in charming Old San Juan

SUMMARY:

Villa Olivo is a charming 1 bed 1 bath apartment on Calle San Jose in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. Old San Juan, settled in 1521, is the oldest Spanish city in all of America and is famous for its history, restaurants, shopping, and nightlife. From Villa Olivo you will be able to comfortably explore everything the iconic Old San Juan has to offer. Location and price is what makes this apartment stand apart from the rest. The location is ideal for those looking to be close to the action in Old San Juan, located less than a block from the busy nightlife and restaurants of Calle San Sebastian and a short walk from El Morro Spanish fort. It is also just a few steps from the Old San Juan Cathedral. The apartment sleeps two adults, has one queen bed in the bedroom, an updated and fully stocked kitchen with a 2-person counter space, and a living room with flat screen TV and WIFI.

NOTE: The building is currently undergoing maintenance work in the common areas such as painting and power washing. There may be some noise related to this work between 8:00am and 5:00pm during these dates.

LIVING AREAS:

Enter the apartment to an open layout with the living and dining room under 12-foot ceilings. There is ample sunlight and breeze once you open the windows. The kitchen counter comfortably sits two adults. The villa has air conditioning and WIFI. The layout makes very efficient use of space and although it is a small and cozy apartment the cathedral ceilings make the area feel much larger. There is a full modern bathroom with a standing shower. Bath and beach towels are included.

SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS:

Villa Olivo has 1 cozy bedroom with a queen bed, closet, ceiling fan, and A/C. You will love the modern commodities of this apartment nestled in a historic and beautiful building.

KITCHEN:

Villa Olivo has a recently renovated kitchen with a fridge, microwave, sink, and stove. It is fully stocked with everything you might need for an extended stay. Dinnerware and small cooking pots are included.

LOCATION:

Location. Location. Location. Villa Olivo has one of the best locations in Old San Juan. You will be staying in the middle of the old city which means you can comfortably walk anywhere within Old San Juan from the apartment.  The charm and character you will experience in the 500 year-old are one of a kind. The apartment is located on a more quiet and residential street but is steps away from all the action. We recommend taking a cab from the airport and using Uber or taxi while you stay at Old San Juan. This is a truly walkable location with everything you need a short walk away. Renting a car is not necessary unless you are planning on road tripping. Villa Olivo does not include parking. 

There are many things to do in the surrounding areas, here are some of our favorites, all within walking distance:

• Explore the El Morro Fort. There are daily tours of the fort and the large green areas have spectacular ocean views. Take a tour, have a picnic, and fly a kite. This is a must-do.
• Explore the iconic Calle San Sebastian nightlife. There is a large assortment of bars on this strip which is a favorite among locals on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
• Breakfast at “La Bombonera”. This is a Puerto Rican landmark well known for its locally inspired breakfast and pastries.
• Savor Stuffed Avocado. Healthy and “trendy” spot where you can create your own avocado bowl.
• Take a stroll around “Paseo La Princesa”, a waterfront walkway which you can start off at El Morro and finish of the walk with a rum tasting at Princesa Gastrobar at the end of the trail.

AMENITIES:

West Indies strives to deliver top-notch service and amenities to guarantee our guests feel at home while visiting our properties. All of our properties are outfitted with freshly laundered bed linens and towels. We provide 2 bath towels per guest and 1 beach/pool towel per guest. Our properties typically include at least 2 beach chairs and an ice cooler.

West Indies provides the disposable amenities necessary to get your vacation off to a comfortable start. These amenities include 1 set of hotel size soaps and shampoos per bathroom, 3 garbage bags, 2 rolls of paper towel, 2 rolls of toilet paper per bathroom, 1 dish soap, 1 dish sponge, and a small amount of laundry detergent. We do not provide unlimited disposable amenities. It is your responsibility to review what is included in the property and stock with whatever else may be needed for the duration of your stay. 

HOUSE RULES: 

• Check-in time is at 4:00 pm
• Check-out time is at 11:00 am
• NO SMOKING: Smoking is strictly prohibited. A smoking fee of $500 will be charged if violated.
• NO PETS: No pets are allowed at any time. A $300 fine will be charged if violated and you will be expelled from the property.
• The host will not pay for a hotel, vacation rental, or transportation expenses incurred because of an interruption in water or electrical service.  If water or electricity is interrupted for more than 3 hours, guests have the option of canceling their reservation and requesting a refund for the nights not used. Under no circumstances will we refund consumed nights.
• All bookings are contingent on signing a short term rental agreement that will be sent via email. It must be signed within 48 hours of booking or before entering the property, whichever happens first.
• Maximum occupancy of 2 adults/children at all times. This includes visitors. 
• Max. occupancy is strictly enforced and exceeding it may result in immediate cancellation of booking or being expelled from the property.    
• Towels and linens must only be used for their intended purpose. Do not stain them with food, grease or any other substance. Do not use towels to clean up any mess. Stained towels/linens will be charged. 
• Do not hang towels from the balcony or windows. A $100 fine may be applied if you break this rule. 
• Subletting not allowed
